The phones launched and their respective pricing apples launched four of them this time the iPhone 12 mini the iPhone 12 pro and the iPhone 12 pro max and here's the pricing no surprises they are expensive the iPhone 12 mini starts from 70 000 rupees the iPhone 12. 80, 000 rupees the 12 pro blow your mind one last 20 000 rupee price tag and finally the pro max at one lakh 30, 000 rupees staggering prices and these are the starting prices for the base variants now these end up being much higher than what it is in us when we convert them but that is something we've come to expect from apple i'm not saying it's fine it most definitely isn't but that is something we kind of expected though there is something even more weird what you ask in the us the 12 pro and the 12 pro max are priced exactly the same as the 11 pro and the 11 pro max at launch in india though the iPhone the pro has gone from one lakh six thousand to one lakh twenty thousand so there's a fourteen thousand rupee hike from the eleven pro to the twelve pro and similarly for the max it's gone up from one lakh seventeen thousand to one lakh thirty thousand now if you're thinking this is gonna be the you know the gst went up from twelve to eighteen percent that's why apple's hiked it not really if you remember the 11 and the 11 pro or rather the 11 pro and the 11 pro max they launched at 1 lakh and 1 lakh 10 000 respectively and the prices that i was quoting just now they are from april post the gst hike after apple increased the rates by about five percent if you are thinking okay fine fair enough but maybe the value of the rupee dropped again the answer is no today one dollar is 73 rupees ish back in april one dollar was almost 76 rupees so the rupee has just gotten stronger since so why this price hike i don't really know and i don't think we're getting any answers from apple India either. enough rubbing about the pricing let's now talk about what apple's actually offering for said money not a charger but hey what are they offering a stainless steel body across all phones all four phones a new ceramic shield protection layer compatibility for a new wireless adapter better displays and of course the regular optic improvements so let's go over these one by one first the build i really like what apple's done here it's more in line with the new ipad pro style of doing things apple talked about how they've gone with this teller new design it is reminiscent of the iphone 4 and 5 though with the chamfered edges and all that the shiny glass pack uh the flat display now we have new color options as well apart from the regular black silver product red there is this blue that everyone seems to like but me personally i want this green with the pro variants we've got silvergraphite pacific blue and gold now this is gold it's not rose gold so it's more of the escobar style typical shiny gold with it enders it looked super cool so maybe with the pro series this is the one i'm going to be getting i want to get let's see for protection apple's worked with corning to come up with.

The world's first transparent color free glass ceramic basically they now have nano ceramic crystals embedded in glass so how good is it going to be apple claims it's four times stronger. the chargers that's what we're gonna talk about next or to lack that off no travel adapters in the box i mean i know this is stupid given apple super premium pricing it feels like one more thing they've removed from the box so that they can sell it to us separately but i also do kind of get it now unless there's new technology i don't see the reason to actually include a charger in the box because at least for the base variants the starter variants apple was including a sad firework charger in the box and you needed to get something better anyway i'm not defending apple or anything but i'm just saying it might not be as much as an issue for people uh as you think it's gonna be and they're still gonna be offering type c to lightning cables at least for this year they're doing that uh here's where i feel  it would have been better if they had added a type c to type a adapter in the box because a lot of people might not have type c charges you might have a regular travel adapter with type a but not with type c and if you were hoping for a type c port on the pro variants like i was that's not happening this year either so i'm crossing my fingers well in advance for 2021. now another thing that did not happen this year was apple getting rid of that wide notch
and also the upgrade to 120 hertz given we are seeing higher refresh rates on even budget android offerings i was kind of hoping that the pro variants at least would come with 120 hertz panels but sadly that's not the case uh but there are solid updates to the display upgrades to the display for example has finally moved on from lcd and sub full hd resolutions all four phones now have oled panels with resolutions above full had they're all hdr 10 certified with support for dolby vision the bezels they've been shaved off even more the screen sizes they start from 5.4 inches on the 12 mini which has a smaller than iphone sc 2020 body now remember the sc sported only a 4.7 inch panel. the regular iphone 12 it has a 6.1 inch panel just like its predecessor but the footprint it's shorter it's narrower slimmer and even a whole 30 grams lighter. the iphone 12 pro that's got a larger
screen than its predecessor at 6.1 inches the dimensions are about the same it's slightly taller but slimmer with almost the same weight and width. but the 12 pro max also sports a larger screen it's 6.7 inches up from 6.5 again with minimal footprint differences now moving on let's talk optics the 12 and 12 mini get dual 12 a 12 megapixel cameras a little bit of 12 going on. the primary is now paired with the f 1.6 lens and here's where things get weird because the 12 and 12 mini share the same primary sensor with the 12 pro whereas the 12 pro max gets a larger primary sensor and it also has in-body sensor stabilization apart from the regular is now all four share the same ultra wide the 12 pro and 12 pro max have telephotos and lidar sensors the lidar sensor is the same for both it helps map the depth and given it works under low light it also allows for fast focus and low lighting conditions.

The telephoto that actually turns out to be different 2x optical zoom for the 12 pro 2.5 x for the 12 pro max now this means the pro and the pro max have quite different optics for the first time so that was something that surprised me now the major difference between the 12 12 mini and the 12 pro max is more software-based than hardware the pro and pro max bring support for apple pro raw generally with raw images we can tinker around and get more detail from the pictures but the initial output it isn't too flattering you need to put some work into it with pro raw apple claims that we will get the same amount of headroom to tinker around with the image but at the same time the initial image will also be processed using machine learning so the output is supposed to be more impressive from a video perspective the pro phones are the first to be able to shoot doggy vision hdr so that's 10 bit 4k 60 fps so this isn't something we've seen on any smartphone in the past now apart from that all four sensors be it the primary  ultrawide telephoto or selfie they all have support for apple's night mode and that's basically all sensors on
all four devices now all these are made possible by the chip and site and apple is offering the most powerful smartphone ship till date the a14 bionic which happens to be built on the 5 nanometer process this brings more performance cuts heat generation and most importantly it should be more power efficient now the iphone sc 2020 has the worst battery life amongst phones i've tested and the 12 mini it's smaller than the sc but with a larger display and that sounds like a recipe for disaster right the 5 nanometer chip is my only hope here because i can't really wait to test this phone out i mean the 12 mini is probably the one I'm the most excited for because generally when apple does something other brands seem to follow so maybe if the 12 millimeters well that could lead to a resurgence of compact phones with smaller displays something i've always wanted and except for sony with their compact lineup for a while nobody's really done it except apple so hey again fingers crossed now while we're on the topic of battery all four phones have support for up to 15 wireless charging and apple's added a magsafe basically there will be magnets in the phone so with apple wireless chargers you can just snap them into place the presence of these magnets also lead to a quite a few new accessories like a wallet or a case that snaps into place and i'm sure third-party manufacturers will bring in more and more accessories unique accessories in upcoming months.
