First things first this box is tiny we have a picture upfront and iPhone branding to the sides our white iPhone 12 comes with 256 gigs of onboard storage. so we do get type c do lightning cable. 6.1-inch solid panel looks amazing considering just how much time we spend on our phones chatting at these displays this one upgrade it might just be enough for a lot of people to jump ship from the last generation iPhone 11. after all the size hasn't really changed all that much we still have a 6.1-inch panel here so iPhone 11 users would feel right at home, of course, the mood OLED brings along with it much expected advantages like pure inky blacks a much more contrasty and vibrant panel but the big thing for me it's been the jump in the resolution we've gone from 820 by 1792 to 2532 by 1170 pixels so we jumped from basically 326 PPI or what apple-like to call retina to 460 pixels per inch and this means the text looks much sharper and in general everything feels that much crisper and people aren't going to make fun of you for having a been paying a lot of money for an HD display something you find on android phones at around the 10k 11k mark or even lesser. now like previous generation phones we still do retain support for hdr playback at a glance the display is on the 12 and 12 pro might seem similar and in a lot of ways they are but the typical max brightness on the 12 is 625 nits it's lower than what we get on the 12 pro which is 800 nits the peak hdr brightness though it's the same 1200 not only as the display tech changed on the iPhone 12 but so has the protection on it the new iPhone 12 series comes with ceramic glass which is supposed to be four times as shatter-resistant as previous generation protective glasses but the scratch resistance has remained more or less the same okay now we've spent quite a bit of time admiring this panel or as Apple likes to call it the super retina xdr display there is a lot to love no curves just an edge-to-edge display yes uh we do have a tiny bezel and that ugly notch. but I get it it's for face id and in the little time I've spent with both devices it worked well now when I first saw the sharp edge and the flat aluminum sides in various images and renders I was kind of skeptical I did not know how this was actually gonna feel in hand well it seems like I was worried for nothing because picking up the 12 pro it brought a smile to my face and the iPhone 12 it's 25 grams lighter than that, in fact, the new generation iPhone 12 is 11 thinner 15 smaller and 16 lighter compared to the older iPhone 11 so as far as the in-hand feel goes apple has nailed it, in fact, Apple has nailed the whole design aspect of these new iPhones I love how light they are the fact that you can use them single-handed despite that display size and the buttons nice and clicky and exactly where we would expect them to be the entire build is nice and sturdy I only wish they'd made the jump to type c. now we have support for up to 20 watt fast chargers they can charge the iPhone 12 up to 50 in under half an hour speaking of charging there's the traditional qi wireless charging 7.5 watts and then we have MagSafe. The a14 bionic comes with a usual host of performance improvements so faster graphics processing more neural network jobs all that we've come to expect from a new iPhone the a14 is also one of the first five nanometer chips to be used in a smartphone. so we have a more powerful albeit efficient processor a higher resolution screen 5g capabilities and some markets and a thinner iPhone.
